Mentor Terms

Last updated: October 20, 2026

The Swedish version is the legally binding one. This English text is a courtesy translation provided for convenience. If the two versions differ, the Swedish version prevails.

These terms supplement the user policy and apply specifically to you as someone offering sessions.

1. Your role as an independent seller

When you act as a mentor you do so in your own name and for your own account. You are neither an employee nor a contractor of BetweenShift. You set your prices, your availability and the content of your sessions. A session must cost at least SEK 50. The engagement covers peer support, not medical assessment or treatment.

Acceptance and changes: You accept these terms in the app, in a separate step before you set up payouts with Stripe. The acceptance is recorded with the time and with exactly which version of the terms you were shown. You can only be booked, and only accept requests, once you have accepted the current version. If the terms change, this is shown at the top of the Mentor Dashboard, and you can neither receive new bookings nor accept pending requests until you have accepted the new version; sessions that are already booked continue. We announce changes in the app at least 15 days before they take effect, except when a change is required by law.

Application and licence check: You apply in the app with a short presentation video and your name. If you state a licensed profession or the protected title of assistant nurse (undersköterska), we also ask for your personal identity number and ask the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) whether you hold or have held a licence and for which profession, but not whether it has been restricted or revoked, when you apply and thereafter when needed for as long as you are a mentor. The check is part of our review, is not shown to users and is no guarantee of your qualifications. You are responsible for the information about your professional role being correct and must tell us if your licence is restricted or revoked. If your application is rejected, you can apply again one month later at the earliest.

2. Payment flow, remuneration and tax

  • Direct payment: The user pays you directly via Stripe, into your own Stripe account. BetweenShift never receives the payment. You create the account and complete Stripe’s identity verification before you can accept bookings.
  • Fees: Stripe’s transaction fee, which you pay, is deducted from the transaction, as is BetweenShift’s platform fee. The platform fee is 10 per cent of the amount charged for the session if you are a member of Founding 100, and 20 per cent for other mentors. The fee rate is determined at the time of booking. The platform fee is inclusive of VAT. BetweenShift may change the platform fee. Changes are announced in the app at least 30 days before they take effect and apply only to bookings made thereafter. A user can buy sessions from you for at most SEK 9,000 per calendar year.
  • Payouts: The money from a completed session lands in your own Stripe account. Payouts to your bank account are made from that account, when you request a withdrawal in the app or according to the payout schedule that applies to your Stripe account, and under Stripe’s terms. BetweenShift never holds your money and never pays anything out to you.
  • Tax and DAC7: The remuneration is taxable income. Because the platform does not pay out the funds, no preliminary tax is withheld and no employer contributions are paid by BetweenShift. You are personally responsible for declaring the income. BetweenShift is obliged to report your earnings to the Swedish Tax Agency under DAC7. For that reporting BetweenShift will ask you for the information required, including your name, address, date of birth and tax identification number.
  • Business activity: If your activity becomes a business (or if you pass the VAT threshold) you are yourself responsible for any VAT reporting and for F-tax registration.

3. Delivery, cancellation and disputes

  • Right to payment: The client saves their card in your account at Stripe at booking, on a customer created for that booking alone and linked to the client’s account identifier in BetweenShift; no session payment is collected or reserved then. When the session ends, payment is attempted on your connected Stripe account for the final amount under these terms. The card is removed from your account when the session has been paid for, has ended without payment or its payment has been written off, and when your account or the client’s is deleted. You may not charge the card yourself or use the details for anything else. If you do not write a message of your own in the session before it ends, no payment is charged. The server records your first message when you send it, and deleting it later does not change that. If you decline, do not respond within your selected response time, or the session is cancelled before it starts, no session payment is charged. You choose yourself how long you have to accept a booking, at most 72 hours. The chat response time you state is shown on your card in the directory as your own information and does not affect the booking. If you or the client blocks the other, your sessions that have not started are cancelled, without payment, and you both get a notice; a session that has started, even a paused one, continues. An accepted booking has no deadline for starting or resuming the session. Later charges can fail or require the client to authenticate or update their payment method. Only a successful charge is recorded as paid earnings; completion alone is not a guarantee of payment. If the client’s payment fails, you get a notice in the app, and the client can complete the payment in the app for 14 days from the first failed attempt. If it has not been paid by then, it is written off: no further attempts are made, the client does not need to pay for the session, you receive no payment for it and the session is never recorded as earned or paid out earnings. You are told so in the app. You agree that the client no longer needs to pay for a session whose payment has been written off. BetweenShift sends no invoice and never collects unpaid amounts.
  • Ending early: You and the client can agree to end a started session early, by both tapping End Early. After at least 7 continuous days paused (168 hours), the client can cancel the remaining session without your confirmation. Resuming resets the waiting period, which begins again at the next pause. Nothing is cancelled automatically after seven days. You cannot end or cancel a paused session yourself; it ends when you both mark it as finished, when it has been resumed and the time has run out, or when the client cancels after 168 hours. On early completion, the client does not pay 90 per cent of the price of unused time if the session ends within 120 active seconds, and 50 per cent if it ends later. Paused time does not count as used. The platform fee is calculated on the amount actually charged.
  • Objections (7 days): A user can object to a session within 7 days of its end, once the payment has been charged. You can write to each other in the app. You have 72 hours to choose to refund the full amount charged. If you let the period expire without acting, nothing is refunded from the platform, but the user can escalate to their card issuer (chargeback).
  • Refunds: If you refund a session, the user gets the full amount charged back and BetweenShift’s platform fee is returned. Stripe does not refund its transaction fee, and you bear that cost.
  • Chargebacks: A card chargeback is handled by Stripe against your balance, and you bear the cost. You respond to chargebacks and other matters at Stripe yourself, in your own Stripe Dashboard. BetweenShift does not handle them.
  • Exception in case of inactivity: If the user objects and the app verifies that you had not written a single message of your own in the session when the objection was made, you hereby consent to BetweenShift automatically initiating a full refund from your Stripe account.
  • Deleting your account: You can delete your account only once your sessions have ended, the client’s payment has gone through or been written off, and the period for objections has passed. If a client has not paid, you can instead give up the payment. The Delete account page shows the sessions with date and amount, and when they are the only thing holding the deletion you can confirm that you give them up. The payments are then written off at once, the cards are removed from your Stripe account, the clients are told that they do not need to pay, and you receive no payment for the sessions. This cannot be undone. The account is then deleted. If a payment is being processed by the bank at that moment, the account is not deleted yet: if the payment goes through it counts as paid, otherwise it is written off, and you can try again in a few minutes.

4. Ranking, ratings and suspension

Ranking: The default order in the directory is determined in two steps. First come mentors who became mentors in the last 30 days, so that new mentors get a chance to be booked, and then mentors who can be booked, that is, who have at least one session for at least SEK 50, payments enabled with Stripe and at least one language stated. Mentors who are equal in both steps are shown in a random order, different for each user and new every day. Placement cannot be bought. The user can instead sort by highest rating (the average, with mentors without ratings last) or by lowest or highest price of your cheapest session.

BetweenShift may pause you or remove your mentor status for breaches of the user terms or for repeated complaints or missed sessions. This takes effect immediately, and you receive a statement of reasons in the app and can request a review. While you are paused you are not shown in the directory and cannot be booked. If your mentor status is removed, you need a membership to use the app, unless you belong to Founding 100, but you can still withdraw your balance in the app.

After a completed session the user can give you a rating between 1 and 5 and a short written comment. Your average rating and the number of ratings are shown to signed-in members on your profile and on your card in the mentor directory. Only you, the user who wrote it and, during a review, our administrators see the comment. Only a user who has booked a session with you can leave a rating, once the session has started and ended and even if no payment was charged, and each session can be rated once. Your profile also shows how many sessions you have completed and the year you became a mentor.

Data in the service: You see the username and profile of the person who books you, your chat and the session’s times, an objection, and ratings and comments on your sessions. You do not see who has saved you as a mentor. The payment details are in your account at Stripe. BetweenShift has access to the data about sessions, ratings, objections and payments; see the privacy policy. If you stop being a mentor, you can still see your earlier sessions.

Between shifts, and everything in between.
